Shoot Thinning

There are a range of canopy management techniques, the applicability of which varies from vineyard to vineyard. The simplest of these are trimming, which cuts off excessive shoot growth in the summer, shoot thinning which removes unwanted shoots early in the season, leaf removal in the fruit zone, which allows more exposure to sun and wind, and shoot positioning, which makes trimming and leaf removal easy and effective.

At this time of the year we are completing our programme of shoot thinning and pictured here is Malika taking care of our vines.
